Treadmill Squeak
To Clean & Dress the Commutator of the Treadmill Motor
- Unfortunately, some of the 806, 807 & 808 Treadmills have a tendency to make a squeaking noise when the motor is run too slow because the brush in the commutator is not seated properly. This is not a regular occurrence—typically, only 1 out of 50 treadmills will experience this. We apologize for any inconvenience; however, if you do experience this the enclosed stone (along with the following procedure) will eliminate the noise.
Procedure:
- First, turn the power off on the treadmill.
- Next, take off the cover of the carbon brush on either side of the motor.
Note: You only need to open one cover, either the front or the back.
- Then, slowly release the tension brush spring.
- Next, pull out the carbon brush and insert the stone into the brush holder.
- Slowly move the treadmill belt in a counter clockwise rotation for approximately 20 spins of the commutator.
- Remove the stone.
- Put the carbon brush back into the brush holder.
- Apply the spring tension.
- Close the cover that you removed.
- Now, the squeak should be removed.
